Many companies want to have a common Unit of Measure (UOM) to use for reporting purposes. For instance, if you sell a product like a beverage which is packaged in many different sizes, knowing how many cases sold is not nearly as useful as knowing how many gallons or pounds were sold. ColumbusFood allows its users to record two UOMs for each inventory transaction that utilize items setup with an alternate UOM. You can also display both UOMs on transaction lines.
- Purchase or Sales prices can be set in a different UOM than you transact the item in. For instance, ground beef is sold by the case, using a nominal weight, and price it by the pound.
- ColumbusFood eliminates the need to manually convert all sold units to a common unit of measure before reporting.
